In an extraordinary debut, 8848 Vodka partners with Nepali-born Tibetan artist, Tsherin Sherpa to release its new Rye Vodka in a limited-edition bottle. This exclusive release features a bespoke art piece inspired by the majesty of the Himalayas, making it a collector’s items for both spirit enthusiasts and art connoisseurs alike.
Crafted from the finest Polish rye, this is Nepal’s first rye vodka. Distilled five times and filtered through a specialised process, this vodka delivers a remarkably smooth and dry finish with delicate hints of black pepper — a bold addition to the 8848 Vodka family.
Tsherin Sherpa’s artwork for this collaboration captures the breathtaking spirit of the Himalayas. Through a luminous interplay of vivid strokes and colors, he celebrates the rich diversity and collective identity of the Himalayan region.
Born in Kathmandu, Nepal, Tsherin Sherpa is a trained Thangka painter whose work features Tibetan deities, spirits and narratives imbued with personal experiences from his life and modern day concerns and issues.
Known for blending traditional Tibetan Thangka techniques and motifs with modern art, his signature style of reimagined Thangka paintings transformed into contemporary expressions and forms has garnered international recognition. His artwork has been exhibited in many prestigious art museums in Asia, Europe and the United States. Sherpa is also the first Nepali artist to exhibit at the 59th Venice Biennale this year, and is currently showcasing his first solo museum exhibition at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
The artwork is a celebration of diverse cultures within our Himalayan region. I wanted to honour these different voices by merging their spirit with the peaks of the Himalayas, whose heights have become global symbols of Nepal. The glorious Himalayan peaks extending ever upwards are fitting emblems of our collective spirit.
